Man builds new home for homeless woman forced to sleep in dirt for a decade – thank you for your kindness

Very few individuals take the time to genuinely connect with a homeless person, delving into their background before inquiring about their circumstances on the streets. However, a compassionate hero in Los Angeles took the initiative to understand the homeless woman who slept outside his house and extended a helping hand.

Having lost her home a decade ago and tragically her husband as well, Irene "Smokie" McGee had been surviving on the unforgiving streets of south Los Angeles. Enduring nights spent on the cold ground, she relied on recycling to make ends meet, gathering materials to sell for meals.

Often stationed near an apartment complex, Irene's story caught the attention of a resident named Elvis Summers, who refused to turn a blind eye to her plight. He recognized her as a human being, a 60-year-old mother and grandmother subjected to sleeping in deplorable conditions. "It's just not right," exclaimed Elvis, motivated to make a difference.

Over time, Elvis and Irene developed a friendship, and his empathy drove him to an extraordinary act of kindness. The compassionate neighbor embarked on constructing a house for Irene, an endeavor that required $500 worth of purchased wood, along with donated siding and roofing from a nearby business. With his own construction skills, he crafted a secure and comfortable space for her.

Elvis, dedicated to his mission of aiding the homeless, explained his intention: "I just wanted to build something safe enough and secure enough so she'd be warm and comfortable." After five days of labor and determination, Irene finally had a proper shelter over her head.

Reflecting on her new abode, Irene expressed her gratitude and relief, saying, "It felt so good, I was so relaxed, I think I must have slept half the day" on her first night in the cozy 3.5 ft by 8 ft home.

Elvis is such a hero! Please share to inspire others to help those worse off than ourselves.
